Gawler East Specialist Disability Accommodation comprises two free-standing, high-quality homes designed by Mavtect Designs.

Each home features 3 bedrooms, each with ensuite bathrooms and suitable for 2 participants plus OOA (Onsite Overnight Assistance). This project is the first of twelve (12) locations selected by Metcalf Group (SA) in collaboration with SDA Providers and participants.

Häfele collaborated with Metcalf Group (SA) to specify, document and deliver a comprehensive assisted living fittings schedule and

architectural door hardware and access control solution that met the specific design requirements of the project. As a leader in assisted living hardware, Häfele’s comprehensive range offered a wide choice of options to ensure these homes not only met the SDA design criteria and created opportunities to adapt the homes functionality to each participant.

Designed to adapt to a broad range of mobility situations, the Ropox Flexi Electric Bench Mechanism provides users flexibility to adjust the kitchen work surface to optimum levels at the touch of button and adapt to a range of activities. Intuitive user design with rigorous safety features supports independence and the concealed hardware with designer’s choice of benchtop material supports consistent, integrated design.

In tandem with the flexi-electric bench, the Ropox Verti Electric Overhead Cupboard Mechanism providers users improved accessibility to storage cupboards and further enhances independence and liveability. This functionality also extends to the joinery throughout the home, Häfele hardware fittings have been selected to ensure everyday tasks such as opening drawers and cupboards are simple, reliable, meet the SDA design standards. The high-quality fittings ensure the homes longevity and serviceability, a key principle of Metcalf Groups’ strategy.

The Häfele architectural door hardware system is critical to the user experience. Touchless RFID Dialock WT200 entrance locks provide an effective solution for accessibility, safety and security. Chosen for their high performance and long-life span, GEZE overhead door operators are used at the entry door and provide suitable opening.
