Raising the bar for specialist disability accommodation, boutique developer KTQ Developments has recently completed an exceptional apartment development. Designed specifically with discreet accessibility features that went above the Specialist Disability Accommodation High Physical Support Category.
MS Queensland will manage this new SDA property. MSQ’s purpose built head office is being constructed next door.
With safety, accessibility and independence paramount, Red Dog Architects designed contemporary, spacious apartments for ideal movability together with thoughtful, intelligent accessibility features and classic interior finishes.
Häfele’s dedicated range of assisted living hardware solutions is instrumental in delivering the objectives of Orion on Rowe – self-determination, accessible construction, safety and convenience. The architects have taken specialist accommodation to new levels and designed a first class, truly accessible multi-residential development.
Designed to adapt to a broad range of mobility situations, the Ropox Flexi Electric bench system provides users flexibility to adjust the kitchen work surface to optimum levels at the touch of button and adapt to a range of activities. Intuitive user design with rigorous safety features supports independence and the concealed hardware with designer’s choice of benchtop material supports consistent, integrated design.
In tandem with the flexi-electric bench, the fully accessible sink with drainer and the touch function cooktop, ensures that residents can prescribe the working heights for every task in the kitchen for complete autonomy. This functionality also extends to the complete suite of appliances, including side opening oven, dishwasher drawer and microwave.
Embracing discreet accessibility and safety principles throughout the apartments, the designers have specified Häfele DDA compliant architectural door hardware as part of the complete door hardware schedule. The elegantly tapered "Torquay” lever handle in satin stainless steel, pairs well with a broad range of finishes and is complimented by a full range of accessories in matching finishes, including DDA turn bars, privacy indicators, hinges and door stops.
Distinguished by their reliability and safety GEZE Slimdrive EMD-F blends seamlessly into the apartment’s architecture and quietly provides maximum accessibility at apartment entry doors and lobby.
Opening and closing forces can be adjusted to suit individual requirements and electrically controlled latching ensures secure door closure for residents.
Taking the opportunity once again to drive accessibility and functionality to new levels, KTQ Developments invested in a comprehensive exclusive restricted master key system (RMKS) for Orion on Rowe. The Hafele designed and coded RMKS caters first and foremost to the lifestyle and security requirements of the residents and the Supported Independent Living (SIL) provider, MS Queensland. The RMKS ensures that residents and the SIL have the enhanced security that unauthorized persons are unable to duplicate access keys whilst providing flexibility and access traceability for SIL, staff and management.
