Häfele News - February 2019
Free Shipping, BAU fair and more ..
We hope you have stayed cool through the long, hot summer with still another month of summer to go! Fortunately here at Head Office (Melbourne) we were not hit so badly; however our thoughts go to those in the drought effected areas.
January has already shifted into top gear, with a number of promotions already started with more to come over the ensuing months.
We are already looking to presenting new ideas, aspirations and new products as 2019 unfolds. A number of staff are attending the BAU Exhibition in Munich, Germany in the last week of January; Very cold staff I may add. BAU is the world’s leading trade fair for architecture, materials and systems. Our staff are there to talk to our colleagues from Häfele Germany, confirm arrangements with existing suppliers and meet new ones to expand our ever increasing product portfolio. Keeping our industry up to date with the latest European trends.
Häfele Germany exhibits at the BAU showcasing many of our own “state-of-the-art” in-house products and new developments in keeping with all the latest trends. More on this is detailed in this Newsletter.
Do not forget to take advantage of our Free Freight promotion for Trade Accounts during the month of February. “Free shipping on all online orders placed and despatched in February”. Order value must exceed $250.

Complimentary Screwdriver with every Free Family Fitting order
The fittings of the new Free family give overhead flap doors new freedom in movement. This opens up more opportunities in the visual and technical design of furniture and has tangible benefits compared to hinged doors. It doesn’t matter whether a flap is lifted, tilted, swivelled or folded – it immediately provides added value. And last but not least, more efficiency when working.
As the Free Family fittings engineered by Häfele are a very popular product, we have a special promotion for you. For every Free Family Fitting Set order you place between now and the 31st of March 2019, you receive a complimentary tailored screwdriver.
Reliable Partner: Häfele across Australia!
To say that Australia is a pretty big country perhaps is an understatement. With growing industries around the coastal line, the inner country is pretty much empty which can make it hard to ship and deliver orders quickly.
At Häfele Australia we are proud to not only have one warehouse in one location, but four warehouses across the country. This helps us to ship your order from the closest warehouse and ensure it gets delivered as quickly as possible; in the majority of cases, next day.
Did you know, Häfele Australia was founded in 1982 meaning we celebrated our 35 years anniversary in 2017? The first headquarters were located in Mordialloc, VIC and the first two offices interstate were based in South Australia and New South Wales which both opened in 1985. The headquarters we know in Dandenong today opened in 1993 - 26 years ago!
We are amazed to see where this journey has brought us and cannot thank you enough to make us part of your journey too!
Review: BAU fair in Munich, Germany.
An incredible 2,250 exhibitors showcased their products and solutions to over 250,000 visitors in Munich, Germany at the end of January. Häfele was right in the middle of it. While staff from Häfele Australia could enjoy the fair and get inspired by many exhibitors, Häfele Germany was in full swing, showcasing their stand to visitors and colleagues from international subsidiaries. At Häfele Australia we have opened the first Hotel showroom at our headquarters in Dandenong, VIC. Following this theme, Häfele Germany created their stand around the same theme and presented ALLYN - The Smart Hotel. The smart hotel is the result of extensive cooperation with the start-up hotel brand, ALLYN (all you need), founded by hospitality industry expert Alain Cheseaux, and hotel planner and think tank Monoplan, both from Zurich. On display was a model room and central hotel areas on 200 sqm in 1:1 scale, including a foyer with self check-in, conference and co-working space, “living room”, and bar. The visitor dived into an interactive hotel world with smart equipment, intended for urban environments, perfectly geared to the rebranding of existing hotels, but just as suited for the conversion of commercial properties and for new buildings. The target group of guests are the business travellers in medium and large cities. The focus of ALLYN was precisely the comfort that hoteliers need for the operations and that guests require during their hotel stay. The public area served as a living room and offers space to communicate and work. Digital components, such as a perfect WiFi network, self check-in, smartphone key and an app for booking individual services were part of the overall concept. With its hotel mock-up, Häfele remained faithful to its outstanding role as a forward-looking driver in the project business at BAU 19, accepts social challenges, such as the generational change in the accommodation industry in 2019, and continues to drive these forward with selected partners. Milestones on this journey were the “Functionality Cube”, with its multi-functional interior concept for the LoftCube by Werner Aisslinger, the multi–award winning trend project of the youth hostel room of the future, “Youth Lab”, and the “Micro Apartment” presented at the last BAU in Munich – a persuasive reverence, of which trade visitors could convince themselves once again at the BAU in Munich.
We say Thank You to Häfele Germany for showing what is possible, guiding us through their stand and the warm hospitality. It was a great experience for us and we're sure, we will talk about the trends seen at BAU in the near future.
